Just Got A New Dog?

Congratulations!

Whether the newest member of your family is 8 weeks old or 8 years old, there can be a big adjustment when you add someone new to the mix. Do you need help with potty training, crate training, or biting? Or maybe you have other pets in the house, and they aren't getting along with each other as much as you hoped... Whatever the reason is, just know we have options to help you!

Not sure what type of training would be best for you? Here's a breakdown of the benefits of group classes and private training to help you decide.

  • Work on teaching and proofing cues with distractions - creating more of a "real world" experience

Best for:

  • Puppies and dogs who feel comfortable around a small group of people and dogs
  • Those with flexible schedules

  • Work on specific behaviors that aren't covered in classes such as moderate to severe fear and anxiety, barrier frustration and reactivity, and more

Best for:

  • Those who have busy schedules
  • Working with a dog who may not fit the class "mold"

CGC & Community Canine Testing

Give your dog a step above the rest with with the Canine Good Citizen test! Working toward this certification is good for those with previous training. It is commonly the first step needed to your dog becoming a therapy dog. It can also give you the opportunity to brag that your dog is a good citizen of the community!

There are 3 levels of testing. Each test consists of 10 items, and you must pass all 10 items to pass the test. You may use verbal and hand cues as well as verbal praise, but no treats or corrective methods (including corrective collars or harnesses).

The ideal dog is confident, well-rounded, and unafraid. He/she must be good around people and dogs of all ages. We will typically meet in a park or a pet-friendly store to complete each test.
